The avenue, often tree lined, was set out to enhance the grand entrance to the house at the centre of the grounds. Often giving tempting glimpses through its tree lined windings of the estate house before the final reveal where the house in all its glory would be set as if by accident in a perfect landscape. Many examples of the tree lined avenue come to mind like Emo house with its approach being guided by an avenue of huge Sequoia trees leads you to the huge estate house and gardens.
Often when restoring an avenue, remedial work such as fencing and re-surfacing must be done to match the period which best suits the setting. Again tree surgery or tree removal and new semi mature tree planting may be necessary if the circumstances dictate. We are very familiar in working with arborists and conservation architects when dealing with the restoration of such features.
