There are over 5,500 demesnes or formally designed landscapes documented in Ireland. Many of which include historic gardens and formal landscapes of some note. The attached grounds were designed and constructed as part of a legacy of ownership from Norman times right up to the early 19th century when Ireland was under British rule.
These designed landscapes range from old country houses with attached gardens to estate houses which had thousands of acres within their demesne with “the big house” at their epicentre. Within this gamut of historical land ownership in Ireland there lie many hidden historical gardens waiting to be uncovered and given fresh life by their current owners.
We specialise in the careful restoration of the historic gardens of Ireland having successfully completed several such projects as part of our specialist landscaping and garden design business. Our approach is to be sympathetic to the original garden design and the many historical structures and features contained in such gardens.
